Hi. I'm new to this and am trying to figure out what to buy. There are so many cameras available on ebay and elsewhere. Are there a few relatively cheap super 8's that are known to get a better look, are more reliable, etc.? thanks.

Pretty much every Super-8 camera manufacturer made a cost-effective, good super-8 camera.

But if you want to know a brand name where practically every camera was "decent" and most were affordable, I would say stick with Elmo cameras.

When you do an E-bay Search, type "Elmo Camera", if you only type "elmo" in you'll get about a 1,000 Sesame Street Elmo items for sale.
